Recently, Robert De Pietro and Daniel Strebin
co-curated a critically respected exhibition of the works of poster, corporate,
and film-title designer Saul Bass at the Hollywood Entertainment
Museum.
|
Daniel Strebin: Has viewed
and studied over 20,000 classic films of the great directors of world
cinema, and for 30 years has collected the finest and most unique original
posters to supplement his addiction to film history.
Along the way, he couldn't
resist the temptations of a wide variety of other graphic arts, assembling
a serious collection of artist's exhibition posters, small works like
"maitre de l'affiche", and black and white photographs, all of which will
eventually work their way into the gallery.
He has been called upon to consult all the major film poster auction houses,
and to appraise several large and historically significant collections,
both private and institutional.
|
Jason Vass: Has been collecting
all types of graphic art, especially vintage posters for 20 years.
His storehouse contains thousands of original examples of the best in
classic posters and other works of art on paper.
After eight years of prior experience running Jason Vass Gallery
in Santa Monica, California, he closed the gallery to assume a paid consultant's
position at a leading auction house.
|
Robert DePietro: Was awarded an
MFA in film studies from NYU, and was for many years a leading vintage
16mm and 35mm film dealer.
He helped build some of the world's most comprehensive private and archival
collections of original films.
Having fallen in love with posters along the way, he eventually left film
dealing behind to focus strictly on locating and promoting the original
posters for many of those same films.
After many years in the field he has created a deep reservoir of vintage
material which Folio Gallery may draw upon for years to come.
|
Roger Fenton: Is a fulltime assistant
film editor who has worked on the series Nip and Tuck, as well
as such films as The Fugitive, The Usual Suspects, and X-Men
II among others.
For over 20 years he has been a fulltime film poster connoisseur, and
at one time owned one of the largest private collections of the full spectrum
of film history as seen thru its poster publicity.
He brings an experienced collector's eye to the Folio Gallery collection.
